Two UK men convicted of making indecent AI images of children
Two UK men were convicted of using AI technology to create indecent images of children. Adam Evans was jailed for four years after officers detected his offending via device monitoring; Christopher King received a suspended three-year sentence and was ordered to pay compensation to five victims.
What happened
Adam Evans, 51, of Harlow, Essex, used an AI-assisted application to generate indecent images of children. Officers monitoring his device under a court order detected his offending in September 2025 and found 13 illegal images had been accessed. He admitted nine offences of making indecent pseudo-photographs of children.
Christopher King, 47, of Swindon, created pseudo-photographs of children using AI technology between December 29, 2023 and January 17, 2025. He also sent sexualised messages to a child under 16 on TikTok between July 21, 2023 and August 23, 2024. He pleaded guilty to eight counts of making indecent photographs and pseudo photographs of a child and engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Reported impact
Essex Police described the content possessed by Evans as being 'so realistic' that it looked real. Five children were identified as victims of King's offences.
Judge Taylor ordered King to pay Β£4,000 in compensation to the victims and placed him on the sex offender's register indefinitely with a sexual harm prevention order.
Index analysis
Essex Police investigator Jai Rivers stated: 'This depraved act of using AI is treated just as seriously as using actual photographs.'
Governance controls
Evans was being monitored by police due to a sentence imposed upon him for sexual offending in 2019. His device was under a court order when the offending in 2025 was detected.
