Consumer Protections for Artificial Intelligence

United States Β· Law Β· Colorado General Assembly

Our summary

This Colorado law establishes requirements for developers and deployers of high-risk artificial intelligence systems to protect consumers from algorithmic discrimination. Beginning February 1, 2026, developers must disclose information about their systems and manage known risks, while deployers must conduct impact assessments, notify consumers when AI makes consequential decisions, and provide appeal processes. The law also requires disclosure that consumers are interacting with AI systems and grants the state attorney general enforcement authority.
