A 26-year-old man in Essex was jailed for five years after using AI to create deepfake pornographic images of 20 women and posting them online without consent. What happened

Brandon Tyler, 26, used artificial intelligence to create deepfake pornographic images of 20 women between March 2023 and May 2024. He posted the images on an online forum under the username 'C*mHoney88', making 173 posts total.

The images were created using pictures downloaded from the victims' social media accounts. Some were genuine images, some were AI-generated deepfakes showing the women naked, and some had semen or genitalia edited onto them. Tyler posted his victims' social media handles and phone numbers alongside the images, resulting in strangers contacting them.

Reported impact

The 20 victims reported significant impacts on their day-to-day lives and professional conduct. One victim said she had experienced sexually threatening calls and lost a substantial amount of weight. Another stated the abuse had 'left a dark shadow' over her life and destroyed her ability to trust others.

Victims reported feeling unsafe, betrayed, exploited and sick. One victim said the images could resurface in future personal milestones, while another feared the lasting psychological consequences.

Index analysis

Judge Alexander Mills described Tyler as 'humiliating and degrading' towards the victims, with online posts that 'read like an advertisement poster for the worst kind of toxic masculinity.' The judge found that Tyler intentionally tried to bring his victims into his 'dark world of fantasy' to maximise their humiliation and distress.

Governance controls

Tyler was arrested by Essex Police on 22 May 2024 after a woman reported an intimate photo had been posted without consent. He was charged with 15 counts of sharing photos or films of someone in an intimate state for sexual gratification and 18 counts of harassment.

Chelmsford Crown Court jailed Tyler for five years on 4 April 2025. The online forum where the images were posted has since been taken down and seized by American authorities.
