What happened

AI-generated deepfake videos using Marine Lorphelin's face and voice without consent were created and circulated online to promote health supplements and other products as miracle cures.

Lorphelin, an ancienne Miss France and doctor of general medicine, discovered and publicly denounced these fake videos on Instagram on 21 July 2025, stating: 'On transforme mon visage et ma voix pour vous vendre des compléments alimentaires ou des produits miraculeux.'

Reported impact

Lorphelin reported that use of her image harmed both her reputation and consumers' health and finances, stating: 'On utilise mon image à mauvais escient, ça me porte préjudice, et surtout ça peut vous porter préjudice pour votre santé et pour votre porte-monnaie parce que ces produits coûtent souvent très cher.'

She warned the public not to purchase unproven products promoted in such videos, saying 'Ne croyez pas aux produits miracles. On vous vend du rêve!'

Index analysis

The deepfakes showed detectable flaws: 'on voit que le bas de mon visage a été modifié [...], et on entend que ce n'est pas ma voix,' allowing viewers to distinguish them from authentic content.

Governance controls

Lorphelin advised consumers to verify health information claims and consult healthcare professionals before acting on them, saying: 'si une information santé vous paraît nouvelle, miraculeuse, n'hésitez pas à vérifier les informations, à en parler avec des professionnels de santé, ça peut être votre pharmacien ou votre médecin.'
