Instruction 16 TV/89
Describes the context and purpose of the instruction: technological advances in automobiles have led to widespread deployment of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including assisted parking systems that help drivers perform parking maneuvers through environmental processing and automated steering or acceleration/braking control. The instruction aims to enable identification of these functionalities and their usage conditions in vehicle registries.
Assisted parking systems
Defines assisted parking systems as automated aids that operate on a vehicle's steering and/or braking and acceleration systems to enable parking maneuvers without direct driver intervention on the steering wheel or brake and accelerator pedals.
Conditions of use
Permits use of assisted parking systems on public roads provided they comply with UN ECE Regulation No. 79, the parking distance does not exceed 15 meters, and if controlled by an external remote control, the driver must maintain freedom of movement, necessary vision, and driving attention with maximum distance of 4 meters from the vehicle and maximum speed of 5 km/h. The driver remains responsible for the vehicle and its operation.
Vehicle registry
Requires vehicle registries to record information about vehicles equipped with assisted parking systems by completing the technical inspection card in the type-approval options field or remarks section.
