Woman sues xAI over Grok use to generate explicit images from childhood photo
A woman joined a lawsuit against xAI alleging that her stepfather used Grok to generate thousands of explicit images from a childhood photo of her. The suit also involves three Tennessee teenagers alleging similar abuse and claims xAI failed to implement safeguards against creation of child sexual abuse material using Grok.
What happened
A woman identified as Jane Doe 4 joined a lawsuit filed by three Tennessee teenagers against xAI, alleging that her stepfather used Grok to manipulate a photo of her taken when she was 11 years old to generate more than 7,000 explicit images of her.
The woman stated that her stepfather was found dead by suicide two days after the images were uncovered during a law enforcement raid.
The original lawsuit began in December 2025 when Tennessee high school student Jane Doe 1 discovered sexually explicit AI-generated images and videos depicting her circulating online, created using ordinary photos including her homecoming and yearbook pictures.
Reported impact
The woman stated: 'Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly. It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse.'
The lawsuit alleges that investigators found AI-generated sexual material involving the student and other girls on the suspect's device, which was also shared via Telegram and Discord, with photos of at least 18 other girls used to create such material.
Index analysis
The teenagers accused xAI of failing to take basic precautions to prevent Grok from being used to create explicit images of real people, including minors.
X was reportedly flooded with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images earlier in 2026.
