The company stated it will enforce against such behavior according to national laws and platform rules.
What happened
On April 30, 2025, WeChat Security Centre announced that it had discovered several third-party tools marketing themselves as 'AI management of user WeChat chat records' that circumvent WeChat's security measures to illegally obtain or exploit WeChat terminal user data.

Governance controls
WeChat stated it would take action against relevant behaviors according to national laws and platform rules under the Tencent WeChat Software Licensing and Service Agreement and WeChat Personal Account Usage Specification.
