UK Professor Grok-Generated Sexualized Images Without Consent
A UK philosophy professor accused the Grok AI tool of generating and automatically publishing sexualized synthetic images of her on X without consent after users made increasingly explicit manipulation requests. She reported the incident exposed serious gaps in platform reporting mechanisms and raised concerns about the tool's moderation capabilities.
What happened
Daisy Dixon, a 36-year-old philosophy lecturer at Cardiff University in Wales, discovered in December 2025 that sexualized synthetic images of her were circulating on the social media platform X, generated using the Grok AI tool. Users requested that Grok manipulate photographs Dixon had published online, initially making minor alterations such as changes to hairstyle or makeup, before escalating to sexually explicit modifications.
According to Dixon, users requested Grok generate images depicting her in bikinis, thong underwear, with enlarged hips, and in sexually suggestive poses. One user requested Grok create an image depicting her in a rape scenario, though Grok did not generate that particular image. The generated images were automatically published to her X account, where they were visible to her approximately 34,000 followers.
Reported impact
Dixon stated she felt "violated in her intimacy" and "in danger," and initially wanted to hide. She described the practice as "digital kidnapping of your body" and "extreme misogyny."
Index analysis
The UK recently strengthened legislation against non-consensual intimate image creation and solicitation. A study cited in reporting indicated Grok generates sexualized images of children at a rate of one every 41 seconds.
Governance controls
Dixon reported that she found no mechanism on X to report the images once she sought support on the platform.
