Russia Uses AI-Generated Videos to Fabricate Military Gains in Ukraine

What happened

Russia's Ministry of Defence and military bloggers associated with the Vostok military group have been using AI-generated videos and old footage to exaggerate Russian military advances in Ukraine, particularly around Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole.

The Institute for the Study of War reported that Russia has systematically employed synthetic media as part of cognitive warfare operations to falsely claim significant military gains for informational effect.
