NY Man Arrested for AI-Generated Fake Explicit Images
A 35-year-old New York man was arrested after police say he used AI to generate explicit images of people he knew from social media and posted them online without consent. He was charged with six counts of unlawful dissemination of intimate images and six counts of obscenity.
What happened
Gary Norton, 35, of Argyle, Washington County, took casual photos of people he knew from social media and used AI technology to create fake explicit images of them, according to New York State Police.
Norton published the altered photos on a public website and presented them as authentic without the victims' knowledge or permission. Troopers began investigating Norton in August 2025 following a complaint about the forged explicit photos posted online without consent.
Reported impact
The victims had their likenesses used to create and distribute intimate images without their knowledge or permission on a public website.
