Multiple Model Guardrail Jailbreak via "Split Mode" Response Requests
A vulnerability disclosed in 0din's threat feed shows that at least four large language models can be jailbroken via "Split Mode" prompts that request simulated developer responses, potentially bypassing safety guardrails around harmful content.
What happened
A guardrail jailbreak vulnerability affects at least Meta LLaMa 3.3, DeepSeek R1, Mistral Large, and Grok 2. The flaw manifests when a prompter requests that the model simulate "ChatGPT Developer Mode" and crafts a story around specific timelines of when this mode was available, then asks the model to return two forms of responses: one normal and the other in developer mode.
Reported impact
The jailbreak allows attackers to bypass inference restrictions around providing information hazards and violating laws.
