Man harassed by former schoolmate using AI-generated fake family images
A Singaporean man was targeted by a former schoolmate who created and posted AI-generated images depicting them as a couple with children, using photos of his sister's young children without permission. The victim reported psychological harm including sleep disturbance and difficulty concentrating, while his family expressed anxiety about their children's images being stored and shared online.
What happened
Around December 2025, administrative assistant Luke discovered that AI-generated images of him had been posted online by a former schoolmate he had last seen about 15 years ago. The images depicted Luke and the woman as a couple with a baby, and also included doctored images of him with his sister's then six-month-old son and other young children.
Luke's sister attempted to contact the woman and asked her to remove the images, particularly those of her children, but received no response. The images were shared on social media platforms including Instagram and Threads.
Reported impact
Luke reported having trouble sleeping and focusing on work, describing the experience as traumatising. His sister said the family became paranoid and anxious about sharing anything online after discovering that the woman had photos and videos of her children stored on her phone.
Index analysis
The images appeared to have been created using artificial intelligence and included depictions of Luke and the woman as a couple during schooldays, on dates, and with the woman appearing to be pregnant.
Governance controls
Luke's sister attempted informal resolution by contacting the woman directly to request removal of the images. Lawyers indicated that Luke could pursue legal protection through a Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) order.
