What happened
A 56-year-old man from Messina and a 55-year-old woman from Bergamo who had never met physically exchanged messages on a social network starting in August 2025. From August onwards, the man sent the woman numerous insistent calls, messages, and videosโsome created using artificial intelligenceโat all hours of day and night, with a threatening tone.
After the woman's initial complaint, a personal prevention warning was issued to the man. Despite this, he resumed the harassing behavior, and the woman filed a second complaint with carabinieri in Curno. On 25 November, a judge in Bergamo ordered house arrest; the day after, the man was found leaving his home and arrested for evading house arrest.
The man is now in custody and must respond to charges of persecution (art. 612 bis c.p.). The Bergamo Prosecutor's Office activated the 'red code' protocol following the evasion.
