Indonesian student arrested for AI-generated deepfake pornography of ex-girlfriend

What happened

A student identified as IAM in Semarang was arrested by Indonesian police for using AI technology to manipulate photographs of his ex-girlfriend into pornographic content.

The victim reported the incident to the Jawa Tengah Police on 28 January 2026. Police issued a report on 31 July 2026 and arrested the suspect on 4 August 2026 at his residence in Gunungpati district.
