Bucks County man charged with creating child abuse material using X's Grok chatbot
A Pennsylvania man was arrested for allegedly using X's Grok AI chatbot to create child sexual abuse material. The arrest follows Bucks County's discovery that Grok had generated millions of sexualized images, including thousands depicting children, despite content restrictions put in place in January.
What happened
Harry Tiffany IV, 66, of New Britain Borough, Pennsylvania, was arrested and arraigned on charges of creating child sexual abuse material using Grok, X's AI chatbot. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received automated reports flagging 37 images Tiffany allegedly uploaded or shared through Grok in April 2026.
During a search of Tiffany's home on Friday, investigators found multiple computer-generated files depicting minors on his Grok application. Tiffany faces multiple felonies including sexual abuse of children and possession of child pornography.
Reported impact
The Center for Countering Digital Hate estimated that Grok created approximately 3 million sexualized images during an 11-day period between December 29, 2025 and January 9, 2026, including 23,000 that appear to depict children.
Index analysis
X limited Grok's ability to create sexualized images of real people in January 2026 after photos flooded the social media platform. However, a risk assessment conducted by Common Sense Media indicated those restrictions appear easy to bypass.
