What happened

On April 24, 2026, more than 240 CCTV cameras installed at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru were found non-functional during a routine morning inspection before an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans.

A complaint filed at Cubbon Park Police Station alleged that two individuals, Manjunath E. and Abdul Khader, working for sub-vendor IVS Digital Solutions, entered the stadium around 11:30 a.m. without authorisation and deliberately disabled the Network Video Recorder (NVR) system, damaged fibre optic cables, and vandalised newly-installed equipment.

The affected surveillance network included cameras at all key security points such as entry gates, perimeter areas, corporate sections, and public concourses.

Reported impact

Authorities were unable to access crucial surveillance data or live feeds required for effective crowd management and monitoring during the high-profile IPL match.

Security arrangements at the stadium were severely compromised by the sabotage.
